Texas Society of CPAs honors two with 2020 Exceptional Accounting Educator Award

The Texas Society of CPAs has named Dr. Marina Ruseva, assistant professor of accounting at Lamar University, and Michelle Avila, affiliate professor of accounting at Our Lady of the Lake College, as the recipients of the 2020 Fantastic Accounting Educator Award. The winners had been declared in the course of TXCPA’s virtual Midyear Board and Customers Assembly, held on Jan. 27, 2021.

The award highlights Texas educators who have “demonstrated excellence in instructing and who have distinguished by themselves by energetic assistance to the accounting occupation.” Requirements for award recipients involve things such as teaching innovation, pursuit of understanding alternatives for college students, involvement in university student and qualified accounting corporations, and research publications.

Dr. Ruseva joined Lamar University in 2019, formerly serving as a analysis assistant and instructor at the College of Houston’s C.T. Bauer Faculty of Company. A investigate paper she authored, “Executive Fairness Payment and Corporate Tax Actions: Checking out the Part of Money ETR Persistence,” was awarded the 2020 Distinguished Paper award at the Federation of Enterprise Disciplines once-a-year meeting.

Michelle Avlia joined OLLU in 2011, previously operating as an accounting teacher at DeVry College from 2011-2012, and as a direct teacher at Becker Qualified Education and learning from 2004-2011. In 2020, Avila introduced the OLLU Saints Accounting Club to market awareness of the accounting job and CPA license.
